What’s more useful: a DJ mixer or a DJ controller? What’s the difference between a DJ mixer & controller?

The Stock Market+NBA King asked:

Me and a few of my friends are interested in DJing, but we need to know if it’s more efficient to buy a DJ mixer or a DJ controller. But what’s the difference between the two?

  1. DJ Wings says:

Mixer. How do I know? easy. You have direct control of your music instead of letting the computer do it. A reel DJ uses Vynil and Records with Turntables and a mixer. The computer is there for puttin on the mp3s. Also Get TORQ and the Connectiv. Great tools for any DJ. controller is just for someone doing a radio or internet show or something similar. Take it from a Underground DJ to a upcoming DJ, homeboy.

They are 2 completely different things.

I will explain in very simple terms.

A mixer is required to send your sound to an Amplifier.

A controller is used to control your dj software. (functions like play, stop, pause)

Note: Some controllers have sound cards but not all.
