Beginner DJ, Should I learn to DJ with vinyl?

I’m new to the DJ game and have just gotten interested in DJing. But I’m not sure whether or not I should learn to practice with vinyl. Not only does it seem outdated, but the added costs of turntables and records isn’t cheap. If I have 5hr for a wedding and want to do dinner and an evening dj dance party, what time should it start?
