It is all about networking and knowing the right people. Go to the hip clubs around town and start meeting people.
Also, start small. First compile your music and the songs that you want to play. Then try to start djing at small places like coffee shops or independent book stores.
Then start marketing yourself. Make a dj name, make a myspace, make some business cards, and build up a reputation.
Using your lab top is fine in a lot of places, but you would want to also start building your record collection and learn how to work real tables. It gives you a lot more street cred than just showing up with a lab top or an ipod.
Oh yeah and don’t forget to be good. Go to lots of different clubs and see what works and doesn’t on the dance floor. DJing is all about your audience and what is right for that moment in time. Research your venue and your audience.
Garage band comes with all new macs Talk like you want people to enjoy themselfs like you all having a good time?
I’m not real sure how to answer you’re question. But, my freind is in schooling to be a DJ, i believe. Certain schools offer programs to get you ready to venture into a career like that, but that’s about my full knowledge on the subject. If the question is still up later i’ll try to ask my friend for you.Oh, and your Mac computer can definitely be used. I’m not sure but garage band software will help you but it’s worth a shot!
