i’m not sure how to describe it perfectly… but say you’re listening to a song on the radio and before it ends they start playing hints of the next song before it actually begins.

is this something i can do in garageband? do i need to download other software? keep in mind i’m on a mac… thanks!

You can set up your tracks to mix in Garageband, but you won’t be mixing them live. DJing is taking two different inputs and mixing them into the main output, so you would need to have one output playing the main source (speakers) and another output playing the incoming song (headphones). There are tons of programs that can do this, but then you will need an interface to get an output to your speakers and a separate one to the headphones. Check out the Torq, Serato, Traktor, and Deckadance, as all of these programs can do what you want. Some will even have the ability to split the outputs so that the left channel will play the main out and the right channel will play the headphone out, which leaves you only needing a splitter (to split the left and right channels). Live mixing in Garageband? Nope. Sorry dude
